Mobile phone ownership is increasing alongside the usage of text messaging. *

It is estimated that text messaging in the UK will increase from 82m (2005) to 100m messages per day in 2006.*

94.6% of the population lived in postal district areas which had at least 75% area coverage by four operators.*

Every week across the UK, adults say they make, on average, over 20 calls on their mobile phones and send 28 text messages.**

On average mobile phone customers said they spent around £20 per month on mobile phone services.**
